A few years ago a group of italian Joyce scholars decided to unite their efforts and set out on the venture of a joint study of Joyces macrotext. The occasion was, for all practical purposes, unique, since each scholar had been a habitual leader of one or another of Joyces works for years, and hence the group could more or less cover the whole of Joyces production. Moreover, each had a different experience and a different methodological approach to offer: semio-linguistic, pragmatic, rhetorical, semantic, and so on. The essays presented in this book are a first step in an inter-active reading adventure inside one of the most daring scriptural experiences ever attempted.
